THE 21 will all be about raising much needed funds for three special charities which are close to the people taking part. Our target is to raise a minimum of £300,000.
chance to shine
Chance to Shine is a national charity on a mission to spread the power of cricket throughout schools and communities. The charity takes cricket to new places and uses it to ignite new passions, teach vital skills, unite diverse groups, and educate young people from Cornwall to Cardiff to County Durham.
Since 2005, Chance to Shine has given over 4 million boys and girls in more than 15,000 state schools and community projects, the opportunity to play and learn through cricket. The Chance to Shine Street programme is engaging thousands of young people in inner-city areas affected by youth crime.
Dan’s Trust was set up in memory of Danny Bagshaw. In October 2012 Dan passed away suddenly at the finish line of a triathlon from an undiagnosed heart condition. He was 27. Set up in his memory, Dan’s Trust has since raised over £500,000 to help fund research into Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and has created their ‘Make a Difference award scheme to give financial help to deserving individuals to help fulfil their potential.
Parkinson’s is a condition that affects the brain. It develops when cells in the brain stop working properly and are lost over time. The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the UK is about 145,000. That’s around 1 adult in every 350.
We influence and fund groundbreaking research to advance understanding of Parkinson’s and improve treatments. We offer support and opportunities to live life to the full for everyone with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. We raise awareness, change perceptions and work in partnership to drive better services.
